Haymill Community Walkabouts
Walkabouts on the Northborough

This weekend I concentrated my walkabouts on the Northborough. I heard a lot of comments regarding anti social behaviour and also mixed views on the Britwell Regeneration Poject. I hope that people will have taken the time to look at the full plans including the changes to the park.

Northborough - Street Scene

I am not sure why this happens but it seems that this little corner of Newchurch is never properly cleared of rubbish nor is the grass cut. I will be raising the issue with the council again.

Alan Johnson Visits The Priory

It was great to have the opportunity to meet with Alan Johnson onthe 21st. Alan was visiting a community development project which was staffed by people through using Future Jobs Funding.

The Millie - Adding Woodchips

On Friday I took a little time out to join with the friends of Haymill Valley and get my hands dirty helping to shift wood chippings onto the new hedgerow on the edge of Whittaker Road. The Millie is a fantastic place, if you haven’t visited already then I promise you it is worth a visit. If you are lucky you may see some of the wildlife including kingfishers, woodpeckers and possibly even the muntjac. Walk deep enough into the Millie and you will also find Milly and Milo two statues embedded deep inside the Millie

Northborough Gating

Since my last post on this issue I have heard from a number of other residents complaining about the anti social behaviour in this area. I have looked at the wider area and it is clear that residents do need some form of gating or control solution as has been implemented elsewhere.

Helping at The Millie

Today I had a little break from wandering around and instead popped down to the Millie to join the regular work party. I ended up helping with path clerance whilst others were digging new ponds.

If you enjoy a little bit of outdoor life then I thoroughly recommend joining up as one of the local volunteers.

Teesdale Road - Council Repairs

Once again I received both good and bad feedback regarding People 1st. Many residents are grateful for the home improvements program which is being rolled out by People 1st but residents still feel that they are not receiving the right level of tenancy support. In each case I have raised the necessary casework to help individuals who are having difficulties.

Scaffell Road - Anti Social Behaviour

Residents in Scaffell Road are still unhappy about the levels of Anti Social Behaviour. I try to encourage these residents to report the issues to the police and to engage with the Naighbourhood Action Group to look for community wide solutions. I will be bringing this up with the Police to see if there are more things we can do to reduce the perception of Anti Social Behanviour across the Northborough Community.

Britwell Regeneration Project

I had quite a detailed discussion with a resident this afternoon relating to the Britwell regeneration project. I agree with the view that this is a BIG change for Britwell, Northborough and Haymill and  hope that people are taking the time to look at all the details of the plans. This is a large and complex project with a number of phases.

Some of the things I am hearing on the doorstep are not completely accurate and rather than try to change peoples views I simply suggest that the look at all the detail now available and make their own minds up. Most people who have seen all of the plans and phases seem happy with them.

I have provided links to the regeneration pages from the haymill.info website. You can also find more information at the Council’s website.

Northmead Road - Vandalised Virgin Box

Another vadlised box, this time in Northmead Road, I will report it to Virgin Media on Monday.

These boxes really do make the neighbourhood look messy.

Marescroft Road Parking

This is just an example of one area where parking has become very difficult. Marescroft, like other area is suffering from the rapid growth in the number of cars owned by each household and is now seeing real problems for residents with limited spaces to accomodate everyone.

We are discussing this with the Council to see if we are able to find new ways to increase parking capacity without spoiling the amenities.
