Haymill Community Walkabouts
Littlebrook Avenue - Update

Firstly can I say thanks to all the residents who took the time to respond to my note. It is very clear that their are a number of traffic and safety issues, including the issue of Station parking. I am still collating results so please let me know if you are experiencing issues at all.

Royston Way - White Lines?

This weekend I spent sometime talking to residents in Royston Way and the surrounding roads Iwas really pleased that so many people recognised me from my work with the cones and with campaigning to make the entrance safer for emergency vehicles. I was also glad to find that the vast majority of residents feel happier with the yellow lines despite the incovenience they cause some of our visitors.

I also spoke with people about the new ‘white lines’ down the middle of the road which have mysteriosly appeared. I will riase these with the Council and see what can be done to get rid of them.

Slough FM - Officially Launched

On Friday I was also luck enough to visit the launch party for Slough FM. This brilliant community based internet radio station is an incredible demonstration of people in the community helping to communicate more effectively to their local neighbours regardless of age or background.

In the coming months I am sure you will be hearing a lot more from the Station.

Blumfield Crescent

This afternoon I went walkabouts in Blumfied Crescent. I heard from a number of residents on a wide range of topics. People were happy with the improved pathways, concerned about what might happen on the Garage Plot and whether it might stop access from Littlebrook but also might reduce anti social behaviour in that area. Some residents were alo worried about the Green Space and also a perception of unfairness when dealing with dropped kirb ssues. I will raise these concerns with the Council accordingly.

Specifically relating to the Green area, I have enjoyed this myself in the past and I think it should be preserved through ‘village green’ status or similar and will raise that with the Council.

Littlebrook Avenue - Parking Issues

Residents in Littlebrook Avenue contacted me to tell me about the issue of commuter parking in Littlebrook. It seems that the commuters are now parking all along the road making it difficult to turn out of the side roads. Whilst takng a look for myself I heard from local residents that there is an issue of speeding in the mornings and evenings. I believe the Neighbourhood Action Group are aware of this but I will be raising it with the Council also.

Priory Play Park - Grand Opening

I am really glad to say that the results of our people power petition have finally been completed. Thanks to everyone who signed up to get the park refurbished, Ihope you like the results. I know the local School Children did, it was great to see so many people enjoying the park on a beautiful March day.

Goldsworthy Play Park

Today I visited Goldsworthy Way and took a look at the new play park. It looks great and it seems it is well used.

I spoke to local residents who pointed out that the goal is quite close to the Garage Roofs which might cause some Anti Social Behaviour and I can see there point. I have reported this to the Council

Orchard Avenue Verges

It seems that the Verge on Orchard Avenue is constantly being chewed up by cars, but it is also apparent that this problem is linked to both the school run issue and also building works at the Priory School. Once the work is completed we will see if we can find a solution between the Council and the School to make this area cleaner for residents.

Cold Weather = Potholes

The recent spate of icy weather has created a number of pothole issues all across the borough. The Council have been notified and have promised to repair them as soon as possible.

Some residents have asked why we can’t just resurface the whole road rather than patching them. Unfortunately with so many roads affected this would mean resurfacing all over the borough which woul dbe impractical.

The Council have a rolling program for road resurfacing and we willbe campaigning to make sure that the worst affected roads are prioritised for resurfacing in that program.
